Approches in Mechanical Engineering


Ancient books show that mechanical engineering in ancient Persia has been a very prosperous and industry men have been familiar with it. Historical books available in this area confirm this.

But by attention to the deep history of mechanical engineering science in Iran, has mechanical engineering education in this country, been leading? To answer this question and achieve this goal should pay special attention to the need for change in engineering education.

At the beginning, mechanical engineering education were summarized in workshops and experimental and laboratory lessons. Engineering graduates to be trained to be able to work in the industries immediately   and to resolve the industry needs. The Masters were experienced ones in industry and a very small part of their activities compromise research. 

Engineering education did not meet the needs of society, gradually.     So, the process of change in engineering education and research to implement new innovations reach the super accelerated. ۱- Faculty and students must b ​​aware of the importance of practical activities. In addition to knowledge of engineering education, engineering students also must learn applied engineering. Student must be a way to strengthen to find the innovation capabilities, vision and creativity. Giving high marks to students and to raise average scores can have a negative impact on the quality of education and in fact, the desire to strive to improve the situation of low student motivation and destroys the outstanding students.

۲- Closer relationship with industry and other organizations, enrich the academic training, especially mechanical engineering education. Also training has an impact on student’s education. Faculty stuff involvement with industry is also very important issues which could lead to work of researches on significant problems of industry.

۳- The course needs to be updated based on new technologies and also brought new subjects and also courses must be updated constantly.

Till year ۱۳۷۹ Supreme Council for Planning Council under supervision of the Ministry of Science was responsible for updating the curriculum of academic disciplines. This effort in the Mechanical Engineering resulted in Course syllabus development in the tendency of heat and fluid and solid design in1376 and in the tendency of manufacturing and production in 1368.

Till today, Mechanical engineering education is to act within that syllabus. From 1379 Planning Board of university are responsible of this duty. In terms of contents of courses, courses in Iranian universities are nothing short of world universities. But it should be noted that professional courses in other countries are commonly taught with a laboratory course.
